No one buys JWT when SZ & ZTuner are half the price and more up to date. You forget that you must buy a Boost control soleniod, MAP sensor, UEGO in addition the the $1600 for the AEM EMS and then the average joe is forced to pay to get it tuned pretty much. How much does that cost then? The stock ECU has a lot of tuning parameters and a higher resolution than most standalones on the market. I would agree a standalone is preferable after a certain point, because of the consolidation of everything into one...Instances where someone wants 10 Defi gauges (crazy ridiculous price) when they can just view everything in 1 screen from the standalone...hardcore racing (data logging is awesome) etc.. Regarding tuning, this is really the main issue. I witnessed the owner of DRT here in Queens (supposedly the inspiration for the original F&F movie) detonate the crap out of a friend of a friend's Supra with twin HKS 2835 turbos and maxed out motor build. The guy finally thought to check the plugs when the car wouldn't hold idle, found half the plug blew off the electrode tips and all of them had cracked ceramic insulators. Replaced plugs, continued to raise boost and detonate at higher RPM's and still continue disregarding it..outcome: 700something WHP, motor that has scratched cylinder walls from blown off electrodes, top piston skirts starting to melt, barely any compression due to all this, all of the money gone into machining, arias pistons, pauter rods, etc & labor all gone down the drain. So in conclusion, for the normal person, I am not sure whether we can trust anyone other than say SZ to travel and tune cars, plus they have to know how to use the AEM software.
